The Miracle Oil

Coming from the land of coconuts, I was introduced to all things coconut from an extremely young age.   Initially I hated it with a passion due to the fact we had so much of it, this is mainly due to my ignorance. 
Over the past few years I have learned that there are many health benefits, especially COCONUT OIL and I would like to share 5 out of many.   

 1. Cancer

It does not prevent it as such but it is like a flu jab. In a way keeps your body fighting against cancerous cells. This is a form of indirect treatment. There are two qualities that coconut oil possesses.
  • Ketones that are produced through digestion – researchers have found that ketogenic diets have played a good part in the recovery of cancer patients.
  • Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFA’s) – as this is digested it they are known to kill helicobacter pylori bacteria (this is what is known to increase the risk of stomach cancer).

2. Boosting your immune system

Being in the flu season, I think everyone should substitute other oils and butter with coconut oil. Coconut oil contains an acid known as lauric, this acid creates a hostile environment for any viruses to feast on. A good majority of diseases known to mankind today is due to excessive growth of bacteria and fungus's in the body. Our diet does not exactly contribute positively towards this either. Most diets contain high levels of carbs and sugar, this feeds the viruses. Many nutritionists have recommended having 3 tbsp of coconut oil daily while you are sick.

3.Skin care

Nothing has ever worked for me as much as this. I love using coconut oil when removing my make up (works wonders when removing eye makeup) and moisturising my skin.

On the other hand, if you are suffering from any sort of skin disorders such as eczema then this is for you. Anyone who has come to me for advice for such situations, my answer has not changed for many years.The fatty acids (Caprylic and Lauric) in coconut oil reduce inflammation internally and externally and moisturize making them a great solution for all types of skin conditions

  • Put the Olay down and grab your Coconut Oil – Anti Ageing: As per an article that was published in the Food and Function medical journal, after much examination they have established that coconut oil improves antioxidants levels and slows the speed of ageing. It also works by reducing stress on your liver and decreasing the oxidative stress.


Having suffered an extreme case of dandruff (trust me when I say this it was BAD !!!!). This is also what lead me to research more about coconut oil.
“One study examined the effects of applying coconut, sunflower or mineral oil to hair before or after washing. To see which oil was best for protecting hair health, the researchers measured the amount of protein the hair lost after each of these treatments. They found that coconut oil was better at preventing protein loss than both the mineral and sunflower oils when applied either before or after the hair was washed. In fact, coconut oil came out on top in all their studies and reduced protein loss in hair that was undamaged, bleached, chemically treated and UV exposed. On the other hand, both the mineral and sunflower oils did not have this effect and weren’t found to be effective at reducing protein loss from hair. It’s thought that coconut oil’s chemical structure is behind its superior ability to protect hair” (source:
The oil itself can work miracles you needn’t mix it with anything else.

5.Energy and Weight loss  

Energy - As mentioned before coconut oil contacts MCFA, the essential fatty acid metabolizes it differently in comparison to other fats such as meat or dairy, as the body don’t really store these acids as fat it transports the to your liver. This is then converted into energy.

Weight loss - Not only does this give the body an extended energy boost, the processing of MCTs also forms keytone bodies which have the added benefit of reducing hunger and cravings.  It’s easy to see how this can help you lose weight faster. Oh, no but its oil, I know what you are thinking. But you are currently trying to burn weight without having to compromise too much on your food substitute coconut oil for other oils. It improves the body’s ability to digest good and absorb nutrients faster and this would keep you going longer without feeling too tired. One of the natural characteristics of this particular oil is that it boost’s one’s mood, this would give you sufficient kick to take part in more cardio.

But just like all things, too much of anything is not good and you will see no results. So please when using any products use it in moderation.

The reason I have not said a specific one is because what works on me may not work for you, I had to go through a few trials before I found the perfect mix that worked for my skin type. 

After trying many the main product that has worked for me is by Nutri-Ko coconut oil.
